ASTM A53 is a type of carbon steel that can be used for structural purposes or low-pressure piping. It covers both seamless and welded steel pipes, as well as pipes that are hot-dip galvanized. The pipes range in size from NPS 1/8" to NPS 26. ASTM A53 is suitable for pressure systems, mechanical applications, and general use in steam, water, gas, and air pipelines.

Description

ASTM A53 is a carbon steel alloy suitable for structural use or low-pressure piping. This specification includes seamless, welded, and hot-dip galvanized steel pipes ranging from NPS 1/8″ to NPS 26. A53 pipes are designed for pressure systems, mechanical applications, and general use in steam, water, gas, and air lines.

The A53 pipe comes in three types and two grades:

  • Type A53F: Manufactured with furnace butt welds or continuous welds (Class A only).
  • Type A53E: Made with resistance welds (available in both Class A and B).
  • Type A53S: Seamless pipes, available in both Class A and B.

These pipes are ideal for a variety of pressure and mechanical applications.
