South Korea’s KOSPI fell 0.6% as semiconductor and steel stocks retreated

South Korea’s KOSPI index fell 0.6% to 2,638.50 points, with semiconductor and steel stocks retreating. Foreign investors and institutional investors became net sellers, and Wall Street’s decline on Friday weighed on market sentiment. Memory chip makers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell 1.4% and 3.3%, respectively, while chip manufacturing equipment supplier Hanmi Semiconductor fell 4.6%. Steel maker Dongkuk Steel fell 3.1%, giving up strong gains on Friday.
